Size, temperment and beauty, Toyland Cantaro is a perfect example of the Falabella Miniature Horse. He is a 6 year old, 31.5" Varnish Appaloosa Stallion. He is FMHA, AMHA, AMHR and WCMHR registered.

The Falabella is extremely rare. There are just a little more than 1,000 Falabella's registered in the Falabella Miniature Horse Association (FMHA). Only small herds are known to exist in most countries and their number is estimated to be only a few thousand in the entire World.

The Falabella Miniature Horse is a breed of horse in Argentina, much the same as the American miniature Horse is considered a breed in the United States. The Falabella family has selectively bred them for generations and has the one of the longest recorded history of any miniature horse association in the world.

The Falabella Miniature horse was the first line of miniature horses selectively bred anywhere in the world. Records go back as far as 150 years and may go even further back via word of mouth and memory.

In the 1970's the probability that the Falabella Miniature Horse had only seventeen thoracic vertebrae, instead of eighteen, very much like the Arabian, was verified in more recent years during a postmortem in Italy when a very respected Veterinary Professor established similar findings. Last year research in skeletal anomalies in some Australian miniature horses also found the presence 17 instead of 18 vertebrae.

Maria Angelica resides in the United States with a small group on her US farm of pure Falabellas and has a remaining herd in Argentina. Outside bloodlines are no longer used.

Trotting Brook Karmen is a Falabella blend, she is shown here at 5 months of age. She is 3/4 Falabella, and 1/4 American Miniature. Her sire is Domino, a 28" tall, pure Falabella black and white leopard appaloosa.

This is our latest addition, a 100% Falabella colt, Whistling Winds SLG First Edition, AKA Paco, foaled April 22, 2005, 19" tall at birth. Toyland Cantaro is his Sire and his Dam is Toyland Poca Mia.
